Great place to go pre-clinically. If you have an elective in the beginning of third year, and would rather use your AT for other than school orders, this place is cool. Do research on submarines, with divers, or with one of the many Ph.D.'s who are doing cutting edge stuff.
When I was there, there was research going on on sonar headgear that knew its relation in space, letting you turn your head to focus in on a sound, various hyperbaric projects, some escape equipment stuff, and an epidemiological study on submariners.
Put in the work, you might actually get a publication.
